Is it possible to death level a heroes pet?
I did a death level on mine to get a dire pet.
When I tried with my heroe, said hero won't break off.
I tried flagging the heroe after it started casting charm pet, and I tried shift keying after it started casting. Both times the heroe would not break off the spell.

Are I missing something or isn't it possible.

You could put hero on avoid so it wont attack/cast and have pet kill it.

Something that will prolly be easier.

Have the pet kill you to level then when it gets to dire or w/e you want have hero charm it.

Shift + Click charm animal so that the hero cant use it, and then take its weapon off it and only give it charm animal. Should work fine, but probably easier to death level it on urself then force the hero to charm it.

There are some great tips here for this. Trap the pet at the res shrine and remove the hero's weapons as posted above and let it kill you and your 1 hero.

This is best done with only one hero at a time. It is kewl running around with 4 pets

i always wonder about hero's n pets? excluding minon master hero's,... but ranger type hero, u never see with a pet, so THEY can charm pets to,?? and u just need to buy that skill for them., or they can use rangers charm skill??

If you have [Charm Animal] unlocked on your account then any of your heroes can use it.

skills that are unlocked on your account can be used by your heroes.

So if you ever played ranger it should be unlocked, and you can charm a pet with your hero.

Easiest way would be with a 3-man party :

You as any profession, skillbar doesn't matter.
Mo/W hero with [build prof=mo/w tactics=12 heal=12][word of healing][healing signet][resurrect][/build]
R/X or X/R hero with [charm animal]

once you find a pet, flag the R-hero outside range and aggro the pet. Strip off your armor and remove any weapons with HP boosts. Disable [[word of healing] on the monk. The pet will kill you and the monk will res you and only heal himself (with [[healing signet]). Wait till pet is lvl 20. Once it is lvl 20, enable [[word of healing], put your armor back on and bring in the R-hero and let him charm the pet.

It has been a while, but I think what I did was:

Equip vamp weapon and take off all armor
Take Charm Animal on my skillbar
Take Charm Animal (disabled) on desired hero
Take monk/warrior hero with healing sig and res and no weapon
Flag charm hero away from what is going on
You start charming animal and cancel, making the pet aggressive
Die from pet attack and flag mo/w hero on your body (flee mode)

I'm pretty sure that is how I got all my heroes their pets...

Anywhoo his way will work just fine. If you can somehow find a pet that you want near the res shrine then you can death lvl the pet to make it kill you. Check out www.presearing.com for death leveling stuff.
